Bobcat Den Identified Near Hill Street, Grant Street In East Weymouth
Town officials this week flagged an active bobcat den near Hill Street and Grant Street in East Weymouth, urging residents to keep small pets close, while also confirming Weymouth's drinking water remains safe despite text alerts about a boil-water order in a neighboring community.

The Town of Weymouth issued a wildlife alert after identifying a known bobcat den near the intersection of Hill Street and Grant Street in East Weymouth. Officials noted that while bobcat attacks on humans are extremely rare, the animals may view cats, small dogs, and other small domestic animals as potential prey, and residents in the area are being urged to take precautions with pets.
Separately, the town moved to head off confusion after some residents received text alerts about a boil-water order affecting a neighboring community. Town officials confirmed with the Department of Public Works and water officials that no boil-water order is in effect in Weymouth and that the town's drinking water remains safe.
Fiscal Year 2027 first-quarter tax payments are due by Monday, August 3, 2026. Preliminary tax bills were mailed June 29.
SCHOOLS
Weymouth Public Schools remains on its summer schedule, with district offices operating on modified summer office hours, according to the district's latest newsroom post. The district has also posted its summer reading lists, covering suggested books and learning assignments for grades PreK-12.
Looking ahead, the School Committee's next meeting is scheduled for August 20 at 6 p.m. at Weymouth Town Hall, and the first day of school for staff is set for September 1, with students returning in phases beginning September 3.
