Chapman Middle shifts to six-block schedule beginning 2026-27

Weymouth School Committee unanimously approves Chapman Middle schedule restructuring for fall 2026-27. The committee voted unanimously to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Weymouth Educators' Association that shifts Maria Weston Chapman Middle School from a seven-block to a six-block rotating schedule beginning next school year, extending class periods from 48 to 55 minutes while maintaining teacher preparation and planning allocations. Superintendent Melanie Curtin announced the appointment of Diane Babcock as principal of Pingree School and Kristina Melanson as assistant principal of Hamilton School, both positions effective July 1, 2026.
The district eliminated the Director of English Language Learners and World Language position while reinstating the Assistant Director of Special Education.
