Commission approves plaque, drops demolition delay pursuit

Weymouth Historical Commission drops demolition delay bid after owner resistance. The commission voted unanimously to stop pursuing demolition delay protections for five Front Street historic district properties following anti-regulation opposition from owners, on recommendation from staff liaison Eric Schneider. Chair James Clarke and Vice Chair Cathy Torrey previously suggested to the Mayor that the commission recommend use of Emery estate donated funds for preservation work, but report no follow-up.
The commission also unanimously approved a historic plaque application for member Anna Bagdonas's 35 Hyde Street home, built in the mid-to-late 1700s.
