Budget panel deliberated $47 million in DPW and utility budgets for fiscal 2027.

Town Council · Meeting of May 13, 2026

WEYMOUTH — Budget panel deliberated $47 million in DPW and utility budgets for fiscal 2027. Acting Chief Financial Officer Ted Langill presented the Department of Public Works budget at $11,284,150 (up 2.3 percent), Water Enterprise at $12,045,075 (up 2.45 percent), and Sewer Enterprise at $19,835,314 (up 5.27 percent), with the sewer increase driven by a new $7 million bond for the LCI Sewer Project requiring $617,000 in annual debt service. The committee also deliberated approximately $3.75 million in retained earnings for capital improvements including water treatment upgrades, pipe replacements, equipment purchases, and sewer infrastructure rehabilitation.

Committee members raised questions about engineering staffing vacancies, increasing water main breaks, and trash/recycling fee sustainability.
