Committee refers three preservation and equipment measures to Council

Weymouth advances nearly $165K in historic preservation and fire department equipment funding. The committee unanimously referred a $116,000 Community Preservation Act funding request for Abigail Adams Birthplace roof and exterior repairs to the full Town Council with favorable recommendation, along with a $17,860 CPA request to restore a Paul Revere bell at Old South Union Church. In a third unanimous vote, the committee referred a $31,000 Reserve Fund measure for turnout gear for seven new firefighters hired to replace retirees, with Fire Chief Steve Tilley noting the PFAS-free gear represents increased costs beyond the typical $50,000 annual reserve allocation.
