Planning Board · Meeting of October 20, 2026

WEYMOUTH — The Weymouth Planning Board unanimously approved an updated affordable housing production plan, swapping in a senior-housing overlay goal. Planning Director Robert Long and consultant Lynn Sweet of LDS Consulting Group told the board Weymouth's subsidized housing inventory sits at 7.1 percent, below the state's 10 percent benchmark. Sweet said reaching that mark would let the town say "no, let's sit down" to unwanted 40B proposals.

Long cited water-supply constraints, with MWRA service not arriving until 2031, as a reason the board must "look at every development very, very carefully right now." The board also continued the JRS Definitive Subdivision to December 8 and announced the retirement of longtime zoning-amendment author Eric Schneider effective October 27.
