School Committee approves $94.9M budget despite Mayor's no vote

Weymouth Public Schools · Meeting of March 26, 2026

Weymouth School Committee approves $94.9M budget, 6-1, as mayor dissents. The committee voted to submit the fiscal 2027 operating budget of $94,877,714 to the Office of the Mayor, with Mayor Michael Molisse as the sole opposition. Committee members Kelly McClean and Ashley Dickerman defended the budget as necessary to meet student needs, citing teacher shortages and insufficient resources.

Superintendent Melanie Curtin's budget proceeds to the Town Council Education Subcommittee on April 1 and the full council on May 12.
