School Committee approves attendance-area policy; eyes FY27 budget cuts.
Weymouth Public Schools · Meeting of January 8, 2026
Weymouth School Committee approves revised attendance-area policy and subcommittee assignments. Superintendent Melanie Curtin warned that a state-mandated 1 percent budget increase will force staffing cuts to maintain current service levels in FY27, as receipts decline and insurance and utility costs rise. The committee unanimously passed Policy JC, which updates notification dates for elementary and kindergarten school assignments.
Budget Sub-Committee meetings are scheduled for January 14 and 21. Chair Tracey Nardone announced the committee will relocate future meetings from the Weymouth High School Humanities Center to Town Hall's Town Council Chambers.
