WEYMOUTH — School Committee Policy Subcommittee discusses artificial intelligence guidelines for K-12 education. The subcommittee, chaired by Mary-Ellen Devine, heard that Massachusetts has not issued formal AI policies and proposed developing guidelines for students, staff, and parents. The group affirmed the homework policy as appropriate despite public concerns about the homework grid, which is part of school handbooks rather than formal policy.
Assistant Superintendent Lindsay Fratolillo participated in the discussion. Public commenter Gus Perez urged standardized guidelines for staff using artificial intelligence, especially for grading. A final June meeting is planned to wrap up the artificial intelligence policy conversation.
