SWNAS Construction To Begin, Meeting Moves To Chapman
Construction is set to begin at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station redevelopment, and the town has relocated Thursday's pre-construction information meeting to Maria Weston Chapman Middle School to accommodate residents ahead of work spanning three towns.

A joint venture of New England Development and BGRE, formerly Brookfield Properties, will begin construction activities connected to the redevelopment of the South Weymouth Naval Air Station in Weymouth, Abington and Rockland, according to a town announcement. To make room for residents who want details before work starts, the town moved Thursday's SWNAS pre-construction information meeting to Chapman Middle School.
The Southfield Redevelopment Authority also holds its regular meeting Thursday, Aug. 27, as the base-reuse agency continues overseeing the broader Southfield redevelopment area alongside the newly announced construction timeline.
