Town Council · Meeting of January 20, 2026

Weymouth Town Council approves 2026-2028 committee assignments and refers four measures. Council President Arthur E. Mathews announced 14 standing committee assignments for the new term, distributing eleven councilors across panels including Budget/Management, Public Safety, Education, and Long Range Planning, with individual appointments to the Community Preservation Committee, Energy Advisory Committee, and School Building Committee.

The council unanimously referred measure 26-002 requesting appointment of Jason Harris as Building Commissioner to Budget/Management, and simultaneously referred two Community Preservation Act funding requests totaling $133,860 for roof and bell restoration at the Abigail Adams Birthplace and Old South Union Church; both preservation measures require legal notice and public hearings. A fourth referral sent the 2026-2028 Town Council Rules and Regulations to the Rules Committee.
