Town Council approves three health ordinances for massage, mobility, and bodywork establishments.

Weymouth Town Council opens hearings on three health-related ordinances. Acting Health Director Teryn Hermenau reported that joint Health Department and Police Department inspections since January 2025 have resulted in eight of nineteen bodywork establishments being closed and more than $18,000 in fines, citing ongoing violations including human trafficking and prostitution concerns. The Council unanimously opened and closed the public hearings on all three measures and will consider them individually.
The town imposed a moratorium on bodywork establishments in April 2025, expanded to include massage in June 2025, pending these ordinances and related state legislation currently filed at the State House. The Council also unanimously approved a five-year school transportation contract with Student Regular Day Transportation Services and appointed Jason Harris as Building Commissioner.
