Town Secures $11.5 Million For SWNAS Water, Sewer Work
WEYMOUTH — The town has negotiated an upfront payment of $11,551,500 from the master developer of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station to fund continued water and sewer infrastructure upgrades ahead of redevelopment there, according to the town's News Flash feed, while officials also moved to correct a printing error on recently mailed water and sewer bills.

The Town of Weymouth announced it has secured $11.5 million in upfront funding from the SWNAS master developer to pay for water and sewer infrastructure improvements needed ahead of the redevelopment of the former Naval Air Station property, which spans Weymouth, Rockland and Abington.
Separately, the town issued a correction notice after Water & Sewer bills mailed to residents on routes 10, 11 and 14 were printed with an incorrect due date of August 7, 2026. The correct due date is August 28, 2026, according to the town's announcement.
Officials also issued a wildlife alert after a bobcat den was identified near Hill Street and Grant Street in East Weymouth. The town noted that bobcat attacks on humans are extremely rare, but cautioned that the animals may view cats, small dogs and other small domestic animals as potential prey.
Residents were also reminded that fiscal year 2027 first-quarter tax payments, based on preliminary bills mailed June 29, were due by Monday, August 3.
SCHOOLS
Weymouth Public Schools continues to post summer office hours and contact information as the district prepares for the coming school year. The district's calendar shows a School Committee meeting scheduled for August 20 at Town Hall, followed by the first day for staff on September 1 and the first day of school for grades 1-6 and 9 on September 3.

The town's community calendar lists a Summer Concert Series event set for Wednesday, August 5, alongside a Board of Zoning Appeals hearing the same evening. The Weymouth School Committee's Collective Bargaining Subcommittee and the Community Preservation Committee are both scheduled to meet Thursday, August 6.
