Weymouth Council Refers $25,500 in CPA Historic Preservation Requests to Committee

WEYMOUTH — September 19, 2022 — Weymouth Town Council refers $25,500 in CPA historic preservation requests to its Budget Management Committee. At the September 19 meeting, CFO James Mallory presented two measures on behalf of Mayor Robert Hedlund: Measure 22-124, requesting $19,000 from the CPA historic resource fund for preservation of two crypts at Village Cemetery, and Measure 22-125, seeking $6,500 for two stained glass windows at Fogg Library. The cemetery referral passed on a voice vote; the library measure passed 9-2-0. Earlier in the meeting, trustees and the pastor of First Church in Weymouth — whose 1833 building recently received a completed CPA-funded exterior restoration — addressed the council to offer thanks, with Pastor John Robie telling members, "You have made the city on the hill come alive again."
