Weymouth Issues Bobcat Alert After Den Found in East Weymouth
WEYMOUTH — The Town issued a wildlife alert after locating a bobcat den near Hill and Grant streets in East Weymouth, warning residents to keep watch over cats and small dogs, a notice that landed alongside a correction to water and sewer bill due dates for three routes.
TOWN HALL
Weymouth officials confirmed a known bobcat den near Hill Street and Grant Street in East Weymouth and issued a public notice this week. The Town said bobcat attacks on humans are extremely rare, but the animals may view cats, small dogs and other small domestic animals as potential prey, and it urged nearby residents to take precautions with pets.
Separately, the Town corrected an error on water and sewer bills mailed to residents on routes 10, 11 and 14. Those bills were printed with an incorrect due date of Aug. 7; officials said the actual due date is Aug. 28 and asked affected customers to disregard the earlier date.
SCHOOLS
Weymouth Public Schools this week rolled out its 2026 Back to School Guide, an online resource with important dates, transportation details and school schedules ahead of the new year. Kindergarten families will receive additional orientation information on Aug. 21 as the district prepares for Kindergarten Orientation on Sept. 3.
