Weymouth opens holiday-weekend cooling centers, keeps trash schedule unchanged

Friday, July 3, all day — The Town of Weymouth has confirmed there will be no changes to the regular trash collection schedule this week despite the Fourth of July holiday falling on Saturday. Hollis Street will be closed Friday but will reopen Saturday, July 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday, July 3, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. — Cooling centers are open today at Tufts Library, 46 Broad Street, as part of an extended heat-relief effort. Mayor Robert Molisse has urged residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity, and check on elderly neighbors during the stretch of extreme heat. Centers were open Wednesday and Thursday as well, with the same 10 a.m.–5 p.m. hours continuing Saturday, July 4.

Friday, July 3, through Tuesday, July 7 — The Wessagusset Walk remains closed due to ongoing safety work. The closure began Thursday, July 2, and is expected to last through July 7. The town says updates will be provided if the reopening schedule changes.
