Weymouth school budget planners presented FY27 operating proposals with 1 percent increases. Superintendent Melanie Curtin and Assistant Superintendent Brian Smith reviewed high school, athletics, CTE, Chapman, and technology budgets totaling approximately 1.44 million dollars, alongside a request for a half-time assistant athletic director and four district-wide positions including a speech pathologist and teachers. Chief of Staff Langill warned that if town revenues rise only 2.7 percent against fixed-cost increases of up to 9 percent for health insurance, the district could face cuts approaching 3.9 million dollars and potential layoffs of 40 or more staff, with the next budget subcommittee meeting set for February 4.
