Weymouth School Committee Appoints Danielle Graziano to Vacant Seat

WEYMOUTH — June 8, 2023 — Weymouth School Committee votes 4-1 to appoint community advocate Danielle Graziano to a vacant board seat. The special June 8 meeting drew three candidates — Graziano, Mary Ellen Devine, and Ellen McNulty — each of whom answered a single question about their motivations and priorities before a vote was called. The seat had been vacant since the resignation of Dr. Sullivan. The motion to appoint Graziano was made by member Rebecca, who cited Graziano's "consistent attendance" at regular and subcommittee meetings and her "consistently respectful and collaborative interactions with school administration." One member, Kathy, voted no, saying she wanted to discuss other candidates. The appointment runs only until the November 2023 election results are certified, and Graziano was directed to be sworn in by the town clerk before the committee's next meeting on June 15.
