Weymouth School Committee Approves $3.5 Million in Warrants, Honors Student Death

WEYMOUTH -- January 9, 2025, Weymouth School Committee approves $3.5 million in warrants and honors three community deaths. The committee opened its January 9 session with moments of silence for Jack Murray, a Chapman Middle School seventh grader who died suddenly, and two retired educators, Patricia Kinsman, who died December 9, 2024, after more than 30 years in the district, and Cheryl Cicchetti, who died December 26, 2024, and was the mother of Nash Elementary School Principal Francesca McDermott. Interim Superintendent Melanie Carton said of Murray, "even the shortest lives can bring immense joy and light into the world." The committee then unanimously approved three warrants totaling $3,534,246.39 for the period covering December 9 through January 6, along with minutes from two prior meetings.
