The School Committee unanimously approved the Weymouth High School 2026-2027 handbook with updated policies on smart devices and clarified attendance requirements. Superintendent Melanie Curtin announced that Chapman Middle School will shift to a six-period day next year, eliminating French at the middle level to preserve language offerings at the high school.
During public comment, bus drivers and union representatives raised significant concerns about the ongoing school bus transportation contract review, particularly regarding one bidder, NRT, Inc., which was previously removed from a Framingham contract due to service issues. Chair Tracey Nardone reported the Budget Subcommittee is reviewing the invitation for bid, with the contract set for award by May 13, 2026.
