Weymouth schools face $1.6M budget gap; transportation rebid could save $1.5M. Superintendent Melanie Curtin and Assistant Superintendent Brian Smith presented the school committee's level-service budget request of $94,877,714, a 5.3 percent increase, against the Mayor's submission of $93,249,479 at 3.5 percent. The school committee will present the budget to the Town Council on May 12.
The committee also reviewed a competitive transportation contract rebid under MGL C.30B, with NRT emerging as the apparent low bidder at $1.5 million less than current provider First Student over the five-year term.
