Weymouth schools eliminate world language coordinator, raise student fees $95,911

Weymouth Public Schools · Meeting of May 6, 2026

Weymouth School Committee addresses FY27 budget cuts and major staffing shifts. The district will eliminate the Coordinator of World Language and English Learners position while posting a Student Services administrator to support building administrators and mentor new educators. Proposed student fee increases across athletics, extended school year programs, and activities will generate $95,911, equivalent to one teaching position, with most increases at 10 percent and a 20 percent rise in high school hockey fees tied to higher rink rental costs.

The Committee also reviewed the student transportation contract award, expected by May 13.
