Weymouth Warns Residents Of Fake Invoice Scam Emails
WEYMOUTH — The Town of Weymouth is alerting residents to a wave of fraudulent emails demanding payment on fake invoices, with scammers using addresses designed to look like official town accounts.

Town officials issued a fraud alert this week warning that scammers are emailing residents fake invoices and soliciting payment through addresses built to mimic municipal senders, including one styled as "Planning-Dept.TownOfWeymouthNorfolkCountyMA@usa.com." The town is urging residents to verify any invoice or payment request directly with Town Hall before sending money, and not to trust the sender address alone.
Separately, the Department of Public Works has posted its yard-waste collection calendar, street-by-street pickup schedule, and the hours for the town's yard-waste drop-off site for the season, available on the town website.
SCHOOLS
Weymouth Public Schools has rolled out its 2026 Back to School Guide, an online resource covering key dates, transportation details and school schedules ahead of the new year. Kindergarten families will get additional details on the September 3 orientation later this month, the district said.
The district's phased opening continues over the next two weeks: staff report September 1, there is no school for students on September 2 for staff development, grades 1 through 6 and grade 9 begin with an early release on September 3 alongside kindergarten orientation, and kindergarten, grades 7-8 and grades 10-12 start a full day on September 4. Schools are closed September 7 for Labor Day, and Pre-K begins September 8.
