Weymouth Details Seawall, Street and Dredge Projects
North Weymouth Projects Meeting · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Weymouth briefs North Weymouth residents on seawall, street and dredge flood projects. Director of Planning Bob Luongo and engineers from Tighe & Bond, led by Vice President Brian Yangus, updated residents on three resiliency efforts: a fully permitted $22 million Four Point Road seawall reconstruction awaiting construction funding, a River Street elevation project targeting 2028 construction, and a Back River dredge of about 11,000 cubic yards aimed for next winter. Yangus said the seawall's benefit-cost ratio, $48 million in benefits against $22 million in cost, beats the 1.2-to-1.5 range typical of FEMA BRIC-funded projects.
A resident accused the town of ignoring photographed seawall damage, saying "I call it bullshit" after repeated unanswered inspection requests, prompting officials to cite weekend storm preparations including a staged front-end loader. Residents also objected to a proposed playground and basketball-court removal and pressed for stricter Four Point Road parking enforcement. No votes were taken.
