Weymouth School Committee Approves Collaborative Capital Reserve, Bids Farewell to Two Members
WEYMOUTH — December 18, 2025 — Weymouth School Committee closes 2025 by honoring two departing members and approving a South Shore Educational Collaborative Capital Reserve account. At its December 18 meeting, the committee unanimously approved a $773,045.78 financial warrant and voted to establish the capital reserve fund, which will accumulate surplus tuition revenues from the collaborative to cover future capital needs at its Hingham facility — no direct member-district assessments are planned. Michael Loche of the collaborative told the committee the fund is needed as a triple-net lease on the Hingham building nears its end. One member voted present due to a family member's enrollment at the collaborative. Superintendent Tracy Colburn and other officials offered extended tributes to Chair Kathy Nardone, a member since 2014, and a second departing member who joined in 2018, with State Senator Pat O'Connor and a representative of State Representative Murphy presenting citations from both legislative chambers. New athletic director Kristen Kelly reported the high school fielded just under 500 fall student athletes, collected approximately $20,000 in fall gate revenue, and saw freshman Samantha Noble win a Division 2 state championship in the 100-yard breaststroke. Three new committee members are scheduled to be sworn in January 5, 2026.
