Weymouth Schools Near Deal for New Before-and-After Care at All Primary Schools

WEYMOUTH — July 15, 2021 — Weymouth School Committee approves $2.6 million in warrants and expects a before-and-after school care announcement by July 22. The committee unanimously approved three financial warrants totaling $2,652,061.66 at its July 15 meeting, then received updates from new Superintendent Rob Lytle and Assistant Superintendent Brian Smith on a competitive procurement to replace former provider Waycare. Six vendors expressed interest in the request for proposal released June 3; three submitted qualifying bids, two of which were rated "highly advantageous." The anticipated three-year contract will cover all primary schools and requires state EEC space certification before a September program launch. Lytle also reported that a three-day educational visioning process led by facilitator Dr. Frank Locker wrapped July 7, with a written report and draft strategic plan expected by month's end; "engagement" was cited as the dominant theme from the sessions.
