Town Council elects Mathews president, Happel vice president

WEYMOUTH — Town Council reorganization produces unanimous officer elections. Councilor Arthur Mathews, a District Four member, was elected President unanimously, while Councilor at Large Fred Happel was elected Vice President unanimously, with all eleven council members present at the January 5 ceremony at Chapman School Auditorium. In his acceptance remarks, President Mathews expressed his intention to work closely with Mayor Michael Molisse, a former twenty-five-year council member, and TJ Lacey, the Director of Administrative and Community Services and former councilor.

The next regularly scheduled Town Council meeting is set for January 20, 2026.
