Board of Licensing · Meeting of September 9, 2026
Weymouth's Board of Licensing denied a massage establishment license for Lavender Spa and Footworks after documenting more than $1,500 in state and municipal fines, while clearing license changes for three restaurants. The state Division of Occupational Licensure had fined the Washington Street business $1,000 for advertising massage services without a license, and Weymouth's Health Department separately fined it $500 over two violations citing "large quantities of food indicating possible habitation." The applicant, through an interpreter, asked the board, "Can you tell me why I'm not passed?" and was told the reasoning would be explained "outside." Separately, the board approved a license transfer for Cozy Fo and Thai Kitchen on Main Street, approved Joe and Janet Campbell's conversion of their longtime Bridge Street bar into True North Marketplace, and continued a pizza shop's application to October 20 over unpaid property taxes.
