Weymouth Board Grants Conditional License to Town's First Medical Marijuana Dispensary
WEYMOUTH — December 19, 2023 — Weymouth licensing board conditionally approves town's first medical marijuana treatment center license. The Board of Licensing Commissioners voted unanimously at its December 19 meeting to grant a conditional medical marijuana treatment center license to 1622 Medical LLC for a proposed facility at 1381 Washington Street, a site on a 10-acre Industrial-1-zoned parcel previously part of a larger tract owned by Jim Bristol. Attorney Walter Sullivan, representing 1622 Medical, told the board the company has been working through the state licensing process since 2018 and needs the local approval to advance to the Cannabis Control Commission's architectural review phase. Planning Director Robert Wango confirmed the location is properly zoned and that an approval-not-required subdivision plan is in place. The conditional license requires departmental sign-offs from fire, health, building, conservation, police, and DPW, plus compliance with Cannabis Control Commission regulations under 935 CMR and a 5,000-square-foot cultivation cap. The board also unanimously approved a new wine and malt restaurant license for Sam Aziz, doing business as In and Out Pizza and Grill, at 478 Columbian Street, the former Zack's Pizza location.
