Weymouth Conservation Commission Approves Hanover Permit, Riverfront Addition Orders

WEYMOUTH — April 30, 2024 — Weymouth Conservation Commission approves permits for Hanover development and a Back River addition while continuing two contested items. The commission voted unanimously at its April 30 meeting to issue a partial certificate of compliance for the front building of the Hanover mixed-use project at 1325 Washington Street, clearing the way for an opening the developer said is two to three weeks away. David Hall of the Hanover Company told commissioners the vernal pool nearest the development "appears to be healthy and doing well," with a state DEP-recommended hydrologist review of a drying adjacent wetland described as ongoing and not a condition of the certificate. The commission also approved an order of conditions for a riverfront addition at 192 Idlewell Boulevard, requiring wetland demarcation posts along the salt marsh line and a pre-construction restoration plan for a fire pit encroachment. A proposed floating dock at 202 Commercial Street and the contested 80 Northern Ave. notice of intent were both continued to the May 21 meeting, the latter pending a peer review of the wetland delineation. A $5,000 heat island study for the Conway School area was reported complete, with staff flagging possible follow-up policy coordination with the Planning Department and revisions to local wetland regulations.
