Weymouth Conservation Commission Issues Permits, Continues Two Hearings to June

WEYMOUTH — May 21, 2024 — Weymouth Conservation Commission approves certificates and determinations at four properties, continues two contested hearings. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to issue a certificate of compliance at 4 Mutt Lane conditioned on a $2,000 performance bond tied to plant survival and seed-mix application, and approved two legacy compliance certificates at 46 Beach Road covering a 1999 home construction and a 2008 dock that was destroyed in a 2014 storm. A seasonal floating dock at 202 Commercial Street received a negative 2 determination with harbormaster-approval conditions, and a residential addition at 86 Hickory Lane received a negative 3 determination. The most contentious item, a retaining wall enforcement case at 19 Lambert Ave. on Whitman's Pond, was continued to June 25 after engineer Sean Hardy of Hardy and Man Design Group and the property owners objected to a proposed planting plan calling for dwarf willows that could reach six to eight feet. Commission agent Andrew warned the board that several additional pond-front wall requests are already in the pipeline, urging members to consider cumulative shoreline impacts as they set planting and mitigation precedents.
