Weymouth Conservation Commission Extends Columbian Street Wetland Fill Enforcement Order One Year

WEYMOUTH — April 26, 2022 — Weymouth Conservation Commission grants one-year extension on Columbian Street wetland fill enforcement order and clears four other permit actions. The board voted unanimously at its April 26 meeting to extend a 2019 enforcement order against property owner Richard Campo at 475 Columbian Street to April 2023, conditioning the extension on submission of a revised signed-and-stamped engineering plan and completion of fill removal from a floodplain wetland — a site that has been before the commission since 2018. Cost estimates for the remediation range from $40,000 to $120,000, with a third bid pending from contractor Tom Bradley. Conservation Agent Mary Ellen Schlichtman separately reported that a diesel discharge from Supreme Oil at 572 E Street had been traced to the Back River, and that a proposed 17.2-acre development on the Braintree-Weymouth town line — Banner Park, adjacent to a certified vernal pool and Mill River, an outstanding resource water — will be the subject of a staff comment letter ahead of Braintree's May 5 public hearing. The commission also unanimously issued a partial certificate of compliance for a completed wetland restoration at 24 Concannon Circle, and negative three determinations for wheelchair-access work at 49 Winter Street and a garage rebuild at 104 Abigail Adams Circle.
