Weymouth Town Council unanimously adopts $227.4 million fiscal year 2027 budget

WEYMOUTH — June 15, 2026 — Weymouth Town Council adopted a $227.4 million fiscal year 2027 budget in a sweeping 9-0 vote Monday night, approving more than 40 spending measures without dissent. Budget Management Committee Chair Gary MacDougall called it "a balanced budget that fully funds the core services — police, fire, schools, and public works — while strengthening our reserves and stabilization funds," following a committee vote of 5-0 on June 1. The package included $12,045,085 for the Water Enterprise Fund, $19,835,314 for the Sewer Enterprise Fund, and $2,941,680 drawn from free cash for transfers to the OPEB trust, stabilization fund, special education reserve, collective bargaining reserve, and capital equipment. The council also approved $84,000 in Community Preservation Act funds to begin design and permitting for a pedestrian bridge at Great Esker Park, destroyed in a 2018 storm, and voted to send a letter to MassDOT demanding traffic calming improvements at Ralph Talbot School before September.
