Weymouth Town Council confirms seven board and commission appointments unanimously
WEYMOUTH — September 18, 2023 — Weymouth Town Council unanimously confirmed seven mayoral appointments to town boards and set early voting hours for November. The council, voting 10-0 on every measure with Councilor Heffernan absent, confirmed Steven Whalen to a full seat on the Board of Assessors, Charles Young to the Planning Board, Lisa McCrossin to the Cultural Council, Frank Singleton to the Waterfront Committee, Norman Terrell to the Commission on Disabilities, and Sherry Eldridge to the Scholarship Fund Committee, all on the recommendation of the Budget Management Committee, which had met the same evening. Early voting for the November 7 general election was set for October 30 through November 3, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Town Clerk's office at 75 Middle Street. The one unresolved item was a free-cash appropriation for pickleball courts at Riley Field, tabled until October 16 after Vice President Malice reported that nearby residents remain unsatisfied — "we're not against pickleball, we just want to have it done right."
